Internal Assessors
- Two (2) assessors who have appropriate familiarity with the research topic and methods shall be appointed to review the Higher Degree by Research (HDR) student’s research works and progress (Milestones 1, 2, and 3).
- The nominated assessors should be listed on the Register of Supervisors and their nominations should be confirmed before the internal assessments are conducted.
- These assessors should be officially nominated by either the Principal Supervisor or Co-Supervisor, in consultation with the Thesis Chair and the enrolling faculty’s Associate Dean R&D (AD R&D; also known as the Director of Graduate Research or DGR) before processing the documentations for Milestone 1.
- The Application for Nomination of Internal Assessor form must be submitted to the Curtin Malaysia Graduate School (CMGS) before internal assessments to Milestone report/thesis are carried out.
- The nominated internal assessors should not possess perceived or actual conflicts of interest with the student and any member of the Thesis Committee.
- Ideally, the same assessors should examine the Milestone 1, 2, and 3 reports/thesis. Otherwise, a new Application for Nomination of Assessor Form must be submitted to CMGS for the nomination of a replacement.
Milestone 1
To review the written proposal and oral presentation, and provide comments and feedback.
Milestone 2
To review the written work, completion, and dissemination plan and oral presentation, and provide comments and feedback.
Milestone 3
To review the final thesis and oral presentation, and provide comments and feedback to the thesis. Specifically, the assessors are requested to give recommendations on whether the thesis suffices as an MPhil/PhD thesis and is ready for its official submission.
The Principal Supervisor or Co-Supervisor must complete the Application for Nomination of Internal Assessor form and
- have it approved by the enrolling faculty’s AD R&D; and
- submit it to CMGS before the internal assessments are carried out.
If the nominated assessor is unable to perform his/her duty, either the Principal Supervisor or Co-Supervisor in consultation with the Thesis Committee and the enrolling faculty’s AD R&D will nominate another assessor.
An Internal Assessor must be a HDR Supervisor listed on the Register of Supervisors. If you have not registered yourself as a HDR Supervisor, visit Register of Supervisors
